July never happened

I took an unintentional hiatus from posting due to The Hectic Life rearing it's ugly head. We managed to beat that monster down and now things are more or less back to normal. Normalcy bashers can shut it - if normal means I have time to whip up a batch of brownies and put my feet up for longer than 5 minutes, then normal is good.

Today denotes the halfway mark in my pregnancy. Our little baby boy - that's right, boy! woohoo! - will be here in 20 weeks or less. He's not allowed to be late. Curfew and all.

It's hotter than hell outside, and while I am normally a fan of summer I can honestly say I'm tired of the excessive heat. The grass is dead, the ground is cracked, and the husband is complaining about dragging the soaker hoses around. The office is hot, the car is hot, the garage is hot, and I'm basically an oven, so as much as I like summer...I really wish it was fall. Summer is only fun for two reasons: kids are out of school and you can go swimming. Well, we don't have a pool and we haven't been to the lake. Public water parks and pools have been closing down. None of our friends have pools. Sorry kids, but the mere fact that you're out of school and available to play anytime isn't reason enough to keep summer around. Do something about the pool situation, and then we'll talk. Aren't kids good at fundraisers and the like? Put your talents to use and raise enough funds for a pool in my backyard. You can put it on your scholarship application and I promise to back you up that it was for charity.

It's too hot to even keep typing, so the oven is signing off.
